SERVANT OF GOD RFC MASCARENHAS THE FOUNDER OF BETHANY CONGREGATION AND BETHANY EDUCATION SOCIETY

Fr RFC Mascarenhas, the Founder of Bethany Congregation and that of Bethany Education Society was a champion of education. He belonged to a pious and prestigious Catholic family of Mangalore in Karnataka state. As a multifaceted personality he was a prolific writer, eloquent speaker a linguist courageous leader, committed priest and a benevolent person. While serving as a priest in remote areas in 1900 he realized how children were deprived of the congregation whose members would commit to the cause of education specially that of the girl children and the poor. The Bethany education Society stated by him was registered on 4 September 1948.

Realizing the importance of education in making a person self reliant, Father Raymond initiated schools in many villages. He firmly believed that India would be transformed if the people are educated. ‘Transformative Education for the Fullness of Life for All’ is the goal of Bethany Education Society.

The four priorities of Bethany Education Society are:

  • Education for harmonious Relationships
  • Education for empower girl child
  • Education for Peace and Harmony
  • Education for Excellence for All

With the above goal and priorities ingrained in t hem the Bethany Sisters and Staff impart value based, futuristic education to form and develop a child to share responsibility as an adult to work for the good of the society.

Bethany Education Society has 118 schools all over the India and abroad. Sacred Heart Convent School is one among them.
